PLATEAU STATE: A HAVEN FOR INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENTS, DECLARES GOVERNOR MUTFWANG

Governor Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang of Plateau State has extended an invitation to international investors, to take advantage of the current peaceful environment and engage in business ventures within the state.

Governor Mutfwang who spoke on "Reflections on Plateau State's current state of play and forward-looking perspectives" at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) office in Washington D.C, briefed the audience on the relentless efforts undertaken to restore enduring peace to the state.

He noted with satisfaction that positive results are being recorded, pointing out that the stage is now set for substantial investments, particularly from international businesses.

He acknowledged the state's history which had been marred by violent attacks and commended President Bola Tinubu's dedication to reclaiming the state and fostering harmony among its diverse communities.

Dispelling misconceptions propagated by the media, Governor Mutfwang clarified that occasional disputes between farmers and herders, though existing, have historically been resolved amicably through traditional dispute resolution mechanisms.

He condemned the violent activities of terrorists and bandits armed with sophisticated weapons, sacking several communities in Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Bokkos Local Government areas.

He disclosed that his administration has adopted a multifaceted approach toward enduring peace in the state. These, he said, include engaging both public and private efforts. The Governor added that peace and conflict resolution sessions involving all stakeholders and the establishment of platforms such as the Plateau Elders Forum, Inter-Religious Council, Professional Groups, Traditional Rulers Forum, and Youth Councils have also contributed to the current peaceful atmosphere.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to present an accurate portrayal of Plateau, Governor Mutfwang reiterated his administration's vision to position Plateau State among the top five most competitive states in Nigeria by 2027.

He emphasized his commitment to fostering economic growth, job creation, infrastructural development, increased school enrollment, social inclusion, and an improved quality of life.

Governor Mutfwang said his primary goal is to leverage the state's comparative advantages for enhanced productivity and the achievement of inclusive economic growth and socioeconomic transformation.
